What we do
Focus of 2022
2022 is again marked by the consequences of the COVID-19
pandemic and the continuing war in Ukraine, which triggered an
immediate humanitarian crisis and which has had a significant
impact on food security and supply. To support its members’ needs
and ensure their voice is heard at EU level, Fedima closely follows
the sanctions packages adopted by the EU, its allies, and Russia. The
Association mapped different approaches adopted at the Member
State level in response to food labelling issues. Furthermore, with
partner association FoodDrinkEurope, it took the lead in drafting
a letter to the European Commission, calling for a more flexible
and coordinated approach to food labelling and supported
FoodDrinkEurope’s call for mutual recognition of Member States’
approaches to labelling flexibility.
Fedima’s regular work is organised around five overarching work streams
to guarantee that its members are well-represented at
EU policy-making level and are well-informed on the latest developments
and initiatives taking place across Europe. This multi-faceted structure
helps Fedima maintain consistent activity on various topics and drive
forward its priorities.
• Advocacy & Network-Building – ensure that the members' voices are
heard at policy-making level and that Fedima’s network is strengthened.
• Fedima Community – build a sense of community among Fedima’s
members to enhance the ongoing success of the Association’s work,
which relies on an active and engaged membership.
• Technical Committee – keep members informed of technical issues
that arise and contribute to legislative matters with expert policy papers
and engaging insights.
• Sustainability Committee – work to drive the sector’s sustainability
efforts forward, under the newest Committee, launched in 2020.
• Marketing & Communications Committee – conduct external
communication activities to inform consumers and help drive
conversations and trends in the bakery sector. At an internal level,
updating Fedima’s members on the Association’s activities and the
latest news.
